AGF B.V. raises $1M seed to accelerate climate-smart agro-industrial growth in Ghana

Investment led by FrugalFP B.V. and John Lind to scale a 10,000-hectare regenerative program in the Kwahu Afram Plains, with GIDA support.

Amsterdam / Accra — 24 November 2025. AGF B.V. has closed a $1 million seed round from FrugalFP B.V. (led by sustainability investor Marcel Kappe) and John Lind with partners from Aberdeen. The funding will accelerate AGF’s Smart Circular Agro-Food & Carbon Innovation Vehicle in Ghana’s Kwahu Afram Plains—integrating modern processing, renewable energy, and large-scale agroforestry into a single regenerative platform.

Backed by the Ghana Irrigation Development Authority (GIDA) for land, water access, and technical advisory, the initiative is designed for year-round production and resilient rural livelihoods. Over the next decade, AGF targets restoration of 10,000 hectares of degraded land, creation of 2,500 local jobs, and removal of more than one million tonnes of CO₂ through agroforestry and soil carbon.

“Our vision is a scalable, climate-smart blueprint for land restoration, youth employment, and carbon removal,” said George Boakye Sarpong, CEO of AGF. “This investment lets us move faster on field deployment, local processing, and energy-efficient operations across the Afram Plains.”

The capital will support:

  • Expansion of field operations and regenerative agroforestry blocks
  • Design and procurement for modern processing and cold-chain capacity
  • Integration of renewable energy for off-grid resilience
  • Farmer training, youth employment pathways, and community engagement

The program aligns with Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy and the Volta Economic Corridor, positioning the Afram Plains as a hub for climate-smart agro-industry and export-ready value chains.
