AGF’s Cassava Farming and Processing Project to Boost Economic Development in Eastern Region

African Golden Foods Ltd. (AGF), an agricultural firm in Ghana, is embarking on a major cassava farming and processing project near Kwame Lobby, a village located near the Volta Lake. The project aims to cultivate cassava on a total area of 1,500 hectares, with the land being cleared and prepared over the next two years.

AGF has invested heavily in preparing the land for cassava planting according to environmental rules and climate-saving practices. The company has already cleared 16 acres of land and sent soil samples to a laboratory for testing. The results of the soil tests are expected to be available by next week.

The cassava farming project is part of AGF’s plan to establish a cassava processing factory to produce high-quality starch. The company believes that the cassava farming and processing project will provide employment opportunities for the local community and contribute to the economic development of the area.

“We are committed to environmentally friendly practices and ensuring that our cassava farming and processing project is sustainable,” said a spokesperson for AGF. “Our goal is to produce high-quality cassava starch while creating job opportunities for the local community and contributing to the economic development of the region.”

AGF’s cassava farming and processing project is expected to be a major boost to the agricultural sector in Ghana and the wider West African region. The project will also provide opportunities for partnerships with other firms in the agricultural industry, including suppliers of fertilizers, machinery, and other equipment.
